Description: 15.5" Vintage Circle Y Roping Saddle 15.5" Vintage Circle Y Roping Saddle This saddle, despite being old enough for an AARP membership, is one solid saddle! This one was made years (decades) before Circle Y started using serial plates or stamped numbers, but given the style, this one was likely built in the early to mid 1950's. But don't let its age fool you, this saddle is in great condition and is as sound as the day it was made. The tree is wider than you'd expect, fitting like QH bars that measure 6.75", fitting low and wide with a moderate shoulder flare and just a bit of rock to the bars. Offers a true 15.5" seat with a sloped raised twist and deeper seat bed, with lower/wider cantle almost like an old Bull Dogger saddle. Has a reinforced duck bill style roper horn that measures 3" x 3.5", this one will hold a rope just fine. This one has clearly worked for a living, but has been incredibly well cared for. Its clearly been roped off of, showing a bit of rope scars, but the horn is sound. Has a few scuffs, scrapes, and minor/shallow age related cracking on the leather but has been oiled often and has very soft leather. Real wool shearling underside that is still quite fluffy, showing a couple spots that are thinning a bit, but again given its age, its in great condition. Build on a bull hide wrapped wood tree, so this is not a light saddle, weighing in near 40lbs. Has large solid brass Bork EZ rigging plates. This saddle's last rider ran the fenders under the rigging ring to reduce bulk, but could easily be run back over. Fenders offer far more adjustment than you'd expect, going short enough for a 5' rider. This is a really nice older saddle, one that is ready for decades more work..and would be a heck of a colt starter. At this price, you can't go wrong!
