Description: 1931 STEPHENSOPHIA STEPHENS COLLEGE YEARBOOK, COLUMBIA MISSOURI. Photos 1 and 2 show the front cover and Title Page. Photo # 3 shows the picture of Marion Sample who was the previous owner of this yearbook. Marion Sample would later marry and become Mrs. Milton J. H. Gehrs and live many years ago at 414 Davidson, Chaffee, Missouri. The lady next to Marion Sample (in the yearbook), was Esther Madeline Sanders who was from Sand Springs, Oklahoma who would later marry and move back to Sand Springs as Mrs. William E. Anderson and live many years ago at 705 Lincoln Street, Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Photo # 4 shows a Stephens College student dressed as a fearless warrior. The photo reminded of another lady warrior from many years ago in England. She was known at Queen Boudicca. Queen Boudica ruled the Iceni tribe of East Anglia, near London. Her husband was King Prasutagus. She would later fight the Romans who controlled England at the time and she would later burn London and 2 other cities to the ground killing 70,000 people. The ashes from the fires are still visible today. What happened was Queen Boudicca's husband passed away and the Romans had been paying him to collect the taxes from local citizens. But after King Prasutagus passed away the Romans just decided to cut Queen Boudicca out of the tax cut. This made Queen Boudicca mad and she fought the Romans, but the Romans were able to defeat the Queen and they tied her to stakes and whipped her. Also they raped the Queens 2 daughters. Well this put Queen Boudicca in a bad mood and therefore she organized the local Iceni tribes to fight the Romans and so she burned London which ended up in flames and the city was burnt to the ground and the Queen Boudicca killed 70,000 people. So you can see the pictures of Queen Boudicca and the statue of the Queen which is next to the Big Ben Clock. But because the tribe Queen Boudicca was from the Iceni Tribe was not an English speaking Language but Boudicca would loosely translate to Victoria. So because the Queen was so famous that is why the later queens of England would adopt the name Victoria. So the color pictures are not in the yearbook. Photo # 9 shows the famous Stephen's Gateway covered in snow. Photo # 10 shows an advertisement for the Wabash Railroad. Photos 11 and 12 show the Sorority Members for Theta Tau Epsilon. Shelf # B.
