Description: From the estate of the owner of a northern Wisconsin supper club who had studied fashion in NYC and collected fashionable clothes from 1940s and 1950s. Tag is 'BRUCEWOOD,' a private line of the luxe Chicago department store Maurice L Rothschild. This BLACK evening coat in a light gabardine (maybe a wool/rayon blend? has a bit of sheen). Front sides have sophisticated detail of three welted slant pockets. The top two of these pockets are faux and part of the streamlined look. No button or other closing; looks great with brooch if you want it held closed. Shoulder pads, 3/4 length sleeves, open style, fully lined. Has two tiny holes on one shoulder; her clothing was stored for decades before the auction at a famous lakes area so probably moth holes and can be darned to close/fix with thread. Vintage item may have other signs of age or use. The original owner's clothes in the auction were generally size 6 or 8. Note: that's my size and the coat fits perfectly; it looks like a chic vintage blazer & would be a nice piece for a holiday women's tux look, as well as over a dress. Measurements: shoulder width 16"; overall length 32"; sleeve length 22". Bust is hard to measure with the open front, but side to side across the back, from the middle of the bottom of the armholes, it measures about 20".
