American and Australian soldiers come up on Japanese dead lying in jungle thicket on the road to Buna, New Guinea. Allies pushed Japanese back over mountains and today were closing in on foes' coastal base. Wounded Nipponese were left behind by their comrades and most of them died. Our soldiers found it difficult to carry little more than their weapons in the tough country. Nov. 17, 1942.
