This first set would be called Comic Book Heroes. In licensing super heroes from the Marvel group, Topps put together, with it's trademark black borders, this first group of 32 super heroes with funny and sometimes clever captions. A few of the super heroes from this set have been duplicated with alternate captions in their 'speech balloons' For example, Spiderman can be seen with the caption "Bug off!" and "You drive me up a wall!" In addition, several heroes are duplicated in different poses and are differentiated by a -1 or -2 next to their name on the checklist and on the sticker itself. The regular white-back issue of this set had two copyrights on stickers: "Copyright ©1974 And TM Marvel Comics Group. All Rights Reserved" "©1975 Topps Chewing Gum, inc., PRTD. In U.S.A." These are the white-back versions and the photos are of the actual cards you will receive. The cards have been stored in a smoke free environment and are shipped in a protective sleeve that is inside a hard shell top loader.
