"Pale" gold color is just a bit less intense than the other gold Jazzmaster guard we sell. Brushed finish like on my '59 Precision Bass. This guard is not lacquered. Also please note that the two pot holes and the input jack hole will need to opened up a little bit to accept USA inch sized pots (e.g. CTS) and a Switchcraft jack. This job is easily accomplished with a tapered reamer or a fine round file. I measured .046" thickness. Bonus! We include free pickguard, switch and rhythm circuit bracket screws
