Egyptian Revival statement jewelry such as this were a big thing in the fashion world during the 1920s and had a resurgence during the 1960s and early to mid 1970s. This necklace came to me as part of a collection of vintage Egyptian Revival pieces that had belonged to a doctor who chose to donate her entire collection to a charity, and it is from that charity that I came into possession of it. This collection included other high end pieces from designers such as Hattie Carnegie, Trifari, Lisner, D'Orlan, Diorio's, Sarah Coventry, Accessocraft, Sphinx, MMA, La Royale, Alva, Elizabeth Taylor, and more. This necklace is unsigned but very high quality. I am attempting to find who this design is attributed to, but so far I'm unsure. It's made with gorgeous, porcelain enamel beads that appear to have been handmade. This could be an artisan, one-of-a-kind piece, however, I have found a vintage Kenneth Jay Lane, Egyptian Revival piece made with similar beads. I have also found a vintage Accessocraft necklace with similar pendant, including the fringe. This really is an amazing piece! It's heavy and high quality. The plating on the pendant and the gold, spike-like beads is in excellent condition and super bright and rich in color. The only places that show some wear and age are the loops that attach the pendant to the necklace and the loops at the ends of the necklace. The lovely pendant has birds on both sides and I believe the center figure represents Isis. The birds have green glass cabochons set into their eyes. The Ankh symbol is also worked into the pendant's design. The fringe that hangs from the bottom of the pendant is actually a procession of figurines. It's a little hard to measure the exact length because the pendant is wide and the chain is attached on the outer top edges, so the width of the pendant gets incorporated into the length. I'll list the lengths of the chain and the width of the space between where they are attached at the top of the pendant. The chain lengths on both sides are slightly over 9 inches on each side, and the distance between where the chain is attached at the top of the pendant is 2 inches, which makes the necklace fit like a 20 inches necklace. However, the pendant is large, measuring about 4.5 inches from the very top of the pendant to the bottom of the fringe. It also measures 4.5 inches across at its widest points. The large size pendant means the necklace takes up more space on the chest, fitting longer than an average 20 inch necklace. The necklace is in great vintage condition with only the mildest signs of age and wear. This is such an outstanding piece of vintage fashion and a super rare collector's piece.
