This book's text was first-published in 1890; the book offered here is the first edition with these illustrations. It measures 9 1/2" x 7" and is 285 pages. It is in Very Good condition with some overall handling and wear; the cloth fabric is just-starting at the front spine edge (i.e., please see image #1 below). There are eight, charming, full-page, color illustrations in Fine condition by Gustav Tenggren; they are printed on glossy paper which is blank on the reverse. Tenggren's large, color illustration on the front board is not repeated within the book. In addition, he has fully-decorated the endpapers with a halftone illustration of children following the Pied Piper, and he has done a color vignette on the title page. The text is over 30 international fairy tales, translated into English by Andrew Lang. There is no former-owner's bookplate inside, no writing inside, no foxing, and there are no loose pages.
