Description: Pair of Antique Porcelain Bennington Style Antique Swirl Porcelain Door Knob two ends c. 1900-15 The Bennington "style" refers to porcelain knobs, typically brown andcream in color with a natural swirl pattern and a clear glaze. Bennington knobshave a large amount of cream color, which this set does not. They actually weremanufactured in Bennington, Vermont. They are rare and hard to find. This set of porcelain swirl knobs have a randompattern of wood burls, and may have reflecting colors and striping. There isnot another pair like these as they are all unique. Porcelain door knobs began to be manufactured in the US in the 1850's and werea staple of American hardware into the 1920's. Measures: 2 ΒΌ inches diameter --length between the two knobs is 6 1/2 inches Condition: Very good and solid with normal wear commensurate with age. The pairare a very rich coloration. There is an indentation in the porcelain thatappears to be an original manufacturing flaw. I is difficult to see. The setscrew is missing in one.
