Description: ANTIQUE W.I. HORN & Co. 1830’S HAND SAW I started collecting saws during the 1980’s to use in my school shop classes. This led to me studying their history and putting together a collection of rarer older hand saws. As I am not getting any younger I thought it best to start selling some of my old tools to a younger generation. I will currently offer some of my English handsaws that I was lucky to find many years ago. This is a W.I. HORN & Co. with stamp – “WISE WOODWORKS” It is a very old saw with good original handle with split nuts. I did find this maker in British Saws book by Barley. William Ibbotson Horn was grandson of William Ibbotson – one of the original Ibbotson Bros. who started making saws and other tools in the mid 1700’s. This saw has a fine beech handle with split nuts – 1 nut replaced on backside. The 26” rip saw plate is clean with bold stamp for maker. I only cleaned around the makers stamp. Unique shaped nib up front is original. Saw plate in good condition a little wavy with no pitting and good shaped teeth, not freshly sharpened. Lightly cleaned to preserve as very old. I have recently been selling many tools from my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me with compliments on the quality of the tools and their ready to use condition. I am a retired shop teacher, woodworker, and tool collector for over 25 years. I am a long time active member of many antique tool organizations including EAIA, Mid-West & CRAFTS of NJ. I was President of CRAFTS for over 10 years. I know antique hand tools and use them in my shop every day. I use many pictures as they are worth a thousand words and count on them as part of my description. So look them over for all the little details they reveal. I have been selling antique tools continuously on eBay since 1998 and enjoy the friendship of my buyers.
