New In the Box.NH FEATURES: Forward and reverse “Blatt” horns Steam Generator stack, nose vent and water tank Single headlight Art work approved by NH experts The New Haven Railroad, as part of their dieselization efforts, kept pace with the newest in diesel technology by placing repeated orders from ALCO during the 1940s & 1950s. When ALCO upgraded to the RS-3 the New Haven purchased two orders of them, numbering them right after their 17-unit RS-2 fleet. The New Haven RS-3 fleet passed on to Penn Central, Conrail, Amtrak, and several short lines. Only one New Haven RS-3 (529) still exists today and is currently being restored to operating condition at the Railroad Museum of New England in Thomaston, Connecticut.
