Description: Barzso Reissue - 18th Century Bateau, British Crew and Oars mint condition 54mm figures - oars now cast in red Suitable for lake and river transport the bateau was the most common inland waterways vessel of 18th century North America. "Bateau" is French for "boat," but it was also the name for a flat bottomed watercraft, 25 to 40 feet long, that was used on Lake George. The vessel was made of pine planks with oak frames, stem, and sternpost. The model measures 12 1/4 inches long x 4 inches wide x 3/4 of an inch high. Also included in the set is a crew of 15 18th Century British Infantrymen. 6 row the boat with 6 enclosed oars (also cast in red color), 1 is at the tiller, 1 is kneeling firing, 1 sits lookout and 6 more sit with muskets upright.
