Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Did you know that Patrick Kelly designed for Benetton around 1986 to 1988? I was astonished but not really to read that in ‘Patrick Kelly: Runway of Love,’ a great book – finally! – about Mr. Patrick that came out in connection to the DeYoung Museum tribute and collection. I knew that Claude Montana, Gianni Versace and Romeo Gigli had side gigs early in their careers in the mid to late 1980s – with Complice, Genny, and Callaghan – and others. Scott Crolla too. I met Patrick Kelly in Paris in 1986. He was showing his amazing single seam coats on the Boule Ste. Germaine, on the sleekest, chic-est black models you ever saw and selling them out of boxes and even off the girls’ backs. I spent my rent that very moment. Since he and I were about the only Americans in Paris that year because terrorists were bombing each other, bystanders and airplanes like crazy, I slavishly followed him – ran into him at the fabric flea market by Sacre Coeur and went to every pop-up I heard about. We lost him to AIDS far before he peaked. But his deliriously joyful clothing lives on. Well, I don’t know if this really is him. Because you don’t really know. And the price reflects that. It’s quite simple: boiled thickened wool, cut in a straight line, asymmetric front close with oh those buttons. Patch pockets. It is quite warm to wear – I have a very fine boiled wool by Geoffrey Beene that’s almost identical in cut and color and completely different at the same time. It is not new but is in very good shape, no holes or frays. 44” around underarms, waist hips and hem, 33” long from top of shoulder to hem. 22” from one shoulder seam to the other across the back and sleeves are 21” long, top of the shoulder to the wrist. I provide all this information so that you can get it and love it, so I hope you use it. Please ask any questions – that helps me write better listings. The sewing form measures 38-30-39, FYI. I am not a professional seller. I do this because I am weak and must have money for shopping. So please check your measurements and understand that I hope to avoid returns – tho I certainly will accept them, and, unless if I've really made a mistake in the factual portion of the description, I will ask you to share the shipping costs. I avoid future relations with people who send things back worn or because they didn’t read the description. Please keep in mind that eBay keeps up to 20 percent of each purchase for letting me – and you – use this wondrous platform. And that the post office doesn’t ship free for me or eBay; eBay promotes promising it because people think they’re getting a deal with ‘free shipping.’ I also shop here on eBay and try to behave like so many of the great sellers and buyers I've had the privilege and good luck to deal with. Ask me anything!
