Description: ORIGINAL Picasso Lithograph from Suite Vollard “Le Repos du Sculpture et Le Modele au Masque” Authentic 1952 Pablo Picasso hand signed in pencil Size 7.80 inches x 11.70 inches. “Sculpteur et Modele Admirant une Tete Sculptee” (1933). Etching from Picasso’s Vollard Suite. In the Vollard Suite, Picasso depicts Walter as his sculptor’s muse. Picasso met Walter in 1927, approaching her in front of the Galeries Lafayette in Paris when she was only 17 years old. Picasso was married at the time to Russian ballerina Olga Khokhlova, but the 45-year-old artist and the teenaged Walter soon began a passionate affair. In the Sculptor’s Studio images, Walter is a recurring presence, often shown lounging in the artist’s studio, offering visual commentary on the relationship between the artist and his subject. The "Vollard Suite" is Picasso's most celebrated series of etchings. From 1930 to 1937, he produced a series of 100 prints for renowned art dealer Ambroise Vollard, devoting the work to five main themes: The Battle of Love, The Sculptor's Studio, Rembrandt, The Minotaur, and Portraits of Vollard.
