Description: This is a very unusual handmade Civil War brass insignia that appears to read 30 C inside of an upside-down shield shape. My best guess is that it represents the 30th Regiment, Co. C of some state that had that many regiments. It is dug and quite bent but still a very handsome insignia. It was dug in King William County, Virginia along the Mattaponi River.
