Description: Be My Guest by Conrad Hilton, autobiography of founder of the Hilton Hotels empire. ***Scarce hardcover 1st edition, 3rd Printing with dust jacket and rare items of provenance - Special and VERY RARE HILTON INNS INC. bookmark given with the book at the 1976 Hilton Owner/Manager Conference in Atlanta, Georgia along with an Eastern Airlines (1926-1991) boarding pass/ticket stub from the conference attendee*** Published by Prentice-Hall in 1957 in original and beautiful blue cloth and gold-foil covered boards. 357 pp + 24-page index. Black and white photographs mid-way through book. Condition: VG+ - NEAR FINE/FAIR - GOOD The book is in VERY GOOD+ to NEAR FINE Condition - strongly bound with firm hinges and joints, square spine and gently bumped spine tips and corners. Boards are colorful and unfaded and, impressively, the gold foil/gilding covered boards are beautifully intact and unrubbed (very rare with this title). Some spots of soiling to text block fore-edge. Interior is As New - clean, unworn, no foxing, undamaged with no writing and tight, crisp pages. Original unclipped dust jacket is in Fair to Good condition. Front flap stated “Third printing” and correct “4.95” price; it has taken the brunt of the wear and protected the book extremely well - chipped edges with large chips at the book folds, tears, creases, toning, rubbed areas and surface paper loss at bottom of spine jacket. Please see pictures as they are an important part of the book’s condition description. Be My Guest The remarkable autobiography of legendary entrepreneur, statesman, and philanthropist Conrad Hilton. Born on Christmas day in 1887 in the Territory of New Mexico, by 1929 Hilton owned hotels throughout Texas. Although the Depression erased nearly all of it, he never resorted to bankruptcy. Rising through turbulence and achieving prosperity, the “innkeeper to the world” brought the world closer together in glamorous destinations across the globe. Conrad Hilton believed in himself, in his dreams and in America as the land of opportunity. In his own words, he reveals how mastering the art of living can also help listeners achieve their own personal success.
