Description: CYPRAEIDAE Erronea onyx onyx SPECIAL COLOR Philippines. Bohol. Talibon. 20-25 m. 2016. Size: 33 mm. "A MAJOR BLUISH ONYX, HISTORY REPEATED The jewel from the 20 meter and deeper sand bottoms: onyx. The name is very well chosen, as the stone/mineral black onyx is about as black as the sides and base of this uppermost attractive cowry. Onyx-cowries like to sit next to big bivalves. They are often present near Pinna, on the sand, or in clusters of Spondylus. This shell was brought to us like a treasure, and we agree it is one of the better onyx we have seen: a milky blue callus with a thin split in the center. Sowerby, in 1880, got a similar shell and he figured it in the Thesaurus. Estimation: This is an extraordinary beautiful cowry, even if it belongs to a common species." - Poppe Documented by Conchology Inc Please enjoy the detailed images to confirm the overall quality and condition.
