While unsigned, the painting bears 2 provenance gallery labels on reverse. One is from the Ridgeway Night Exhibition held in New York in 1924. The other is from the Charles Pottier Gallery in Paris, an important French Gallery who represented Knight there. A beautiful small scale sketch undoubtedly for one of Knight's celebrated larger works.
