Description: From the late1900s, this beautiful Moustiers Ceramic Blue design Jug And Basin Bathroom Set are an absolute treasure. This lovely Mid Century set has a delicately hand painted birds ,lion and mystique figurine traditionally associated with Moustiers wares along with a pretty floral and foliate surround. The decorator paints by hand on the raw enamel, applying oxide-based colours with a brush, a technique dating back to the 18th century, which allows the complete fusion of the decoration and the enamel. This traditional manufacturing method results in slight variations in terms of colour and decoration. The entirely artisanal nature of the work ensures that each piece of earthenware is unique. Uniquely hand-made and hand-painted by skilled craftsmen using the age-old techniques. Quality product. The artisanal nature means that each of Moustiers products is unique. They would have been on the washstand in a lady's boudoir and her maid would have brought warm water each morning for her 'toilette'. Many were broken from years of being carried up and down stairs, but these are in fabulous condition like new . The bowl is 14"or 25cm across and 4"or10cm high.
