Description: This envelope, was sent directly from jail and was signed by famous Gangster James Whitey Bulger, who is well known for his involvement in the Boston Mafia. The signature is authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA. James "Whitey" Bulger (1929–2018) was an American mobster and crime boss who led the Winter Hill Gang, an Irish-American crime organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in South Boston, Bulger became involved in crime at a young age and rose to power in the 1970s and 1980s. He was known for his involvement in drug trafficking, extortion, loan sharking, and numerous violent crimes, including murder. Bulger's criminal empire was partially enabled by his secret relationship with the FBI; he acted as an informant against rival criminal organizations while simultaneously continuing his illegal activities. In 1994, after being tipped off by a corrupt FBI agent about an impending indictment, Bulger went on the run and remained one of America's most wanted fugitives for 16 years. He was finally captured in 2011 in Santa Monica, California, and later convicted on multiple charges, including 11 murders. Bulger was sentenced to life in prison and was killed by fellow inmates in 2018. His life and criminal career have been the subject of books, documentaries, and the 2015 film Black Mass.
