What a both Groundbreaking ! & Historic !! 1990 Spring Tour release for the Grateful Dead ... " Terrapin Station " !!! If you were indeed fortunate enough to catch one of these ' Virtually-Magical ! ' 16 East Coast dates on this '90 Spring Tour run, then - you know just exactly ! what I am talking about. The eager-anticipation of the fans was at a new high, and the energy of the Band was infectious - as they were just downright " ON " !!! Or, as Bobby Weir even said himself ... " We were Hot ! " Ha ! I only saw one of these Cap Centre '90 Shows, but boy am I glad I did - Whew !! I caught the " Loose Lucy " kick-down night on 3/14/90, the night before this one & what a Historic ! G.D. concert it was. On this 3/15/90 night ( completely enshrined in G.D. History, with this fantastic '97 release ) was actually Phil Lesh's " 50th Birthday ", and 3/16/90 too was no slouch in it's own self - just simply a 3-night run of Grateful Dead Magic !, yet sadly it was indeed Brent Mydland's very last Spring Tour. In addition to dropping the " Loose Lucy ! " bomb on the Deadhead-Faithful ( for the 1st time in 14 years !!! ), the Band also had a few other Rare & Smokin'-Hot tricks up their sleeves - as Easy To Love You - Revolution & Black Throated Wind were also dusted off from the ' old-repertoire ' vault, and bestowed upon the fans with some impressive Rockin' precision !! As B.T. Wind even had a few new lyrical changes, courtesy of Bobby. Because this Cap Centre run opened this East Coast leg, the Band wasted absolutely no time and laid-down all 4 of these tunes on this Maryland stop ! Just amazing stuff ... I'll never forget just how hard I had to work the ' situation ' at hand to make seeing that 3/14 show a reality -- as it required buying $60 scalper tix out of the back of the Washington Post & even borrowing Mom's Car ! But yours-truly pulled it all off ( thank you, thank you ! ), and next thing I knew I was basking in the glory of a Playin' > Uncle John's > Drums > Space > Dear Mr. Fantasy > Miracle !!! Most Dead Fans that I have spoken with over the years ( who were familiar with this run ) feel that the 3/15 night was pound-for-pound the best -- being Phil's " 50th " and all. I guess the Band felt that way too because this is an incredible release put out here - way back in 1997. And here you have it, Limited Edition ! - Brand New & Factory-Sealed ! And, I certainly know it might sound crazy ... but, I'm not every sure this is even the stand-alone ' Best ' part of this offering - as, it could possibly be a " Tie " ? Well, that all depends on what you fancy the most ...
