Description: CONDITION: Excellent, no defects. This porcelain demitasse or espresso cup and saucer was produced in France by Haviland & Co.Limoges between 1887 and 1889. The saucer is 4 1/4 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch deep. The cup is 2 1/4 inches high with a diameter of 2 1/8 inches. The cup is molded with puffy, blown out panels and rococo style handle. The saucer is formed without a well and has panels to match the shape of the cup. The bottom of the cup and interior of the saucer are painted with sunset sky coloring and flowers suspended in air. The transfer design is hand colored and enameled. The cobalt blue borders are accented with ornate gilding. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. This was a costly, time consuming set for Haviland to produce, limiting production.
