Description: You know that you have always wanted one of the horns designed and played by Maynard. Here's your chance to get one at a very nice price. This ST550 has been used, for sure, but not abused. The plating is still near 100%. There are pin dents, small dings and scratches but nothing that really detracts from the horn's overall appearance. There is a minor crease on the bell edge from a careless placement on a trumpet stand, I would imagine. The case is not original (the original Holton cases were not known for their durability) but looks good and provides great protection for the horn. Valves and slides are tight and smooth. The horn plays extremely well and, as you might guess, shines in the upper register. I have used this on several gigs recently and it played very well. I only wish the player had done as well. This horn is suited for all styles of playing but I have used it mainly for jazz/lead playing. It comes with a Holton 7C mouthpiece.
