According to the journals of the Continental Congress, Francis Hopkinson is recognized as a designer of the US Flag; however, several other people contributed to the design. It is believed that Hopkinsons design featured thirteen alternating stripes, seven red and six white, as well as thirteen white six-pointed stars on the blue field in five linear rows alternating 3-2-3-2-3. This is a reproduction of the 13-star Hopkinson flag. The dimensions and materials used are not exactly the same as those of the original flag. The artwork is visible on both sides.
