Description: Horace-The Satires, Epistles and the Art of Poetry of Horace 1747 & 1748 - In two volumes Translated into English prose with the accompanying original Latin. Inside the covers of both volumes is a pasted label bearing the name Lady Frances Scott. The only Lady Frances Scott I can find later becomes Lady Douglas, the wife of the 1st Baron Douglas closely acquainted with the novelist Walter Scott. Date wise these labels being pasted inside the covers implies these may be the original bindings. Unfortunately both books have wear to the covers, and the spine/cover hinges are broken. Volume two being the worst with the back cover only just attached and the spine is split. Also please note the paper tape on the photos. Despite the wear the pages are good and clear with very little foxing or browning. Please see the photos, if you require further images please let me know. Estimated dimensions 21 x 14 x 4cm Please see my other listings for more books. Thanks for looking.
