Description: HRH Prince George, Duke of Kent 4" x 6" snapshot enlargement reprint from a small trade card1930s Brand new. Digitally edited and professionally re-printed on photo stock. Digital Reprint From a family estate of a gentleman's collection of gay and male related photographs and ephemera. Most items are from the early to mid-20th century and includes loose photographs as well as some pictures that were cut by the owner from an antique photo album. An enlargement made from a very small trade card, showing a formal seated portrait of HRH Prince George, Duke of Kent (1902-1942), the youngest brother of King George VI, and uncle of Queen Elizabeth. He was a close companion to his brother David, who later became HRH King Edward VIII. The original image showed some brown toning from the age of the paper and that color is repeated here. My apologies for the many artifacts that I see in this picture: that comes from enlarging the original small trade card size up to the 4"x6" of this reprint. He is shown wearing his favorite look: the double-breasted suit with chalk stripe light gray wool, wide peak lapels, popular in the late 1930s before the days of wartime rationing. The Duke of Kent died in an airplane crash in 1942 under slightly questionable circumstances, with a briefcase of Swiss Kroner handcuffed to his wrist. The plane was on its way to Iceland with the Prince at the controls. He was the first member of the royal family to die in military service in over 450 years. Each of these photos is labeled at the top of the listing as "Digital Reprint" to indicate that these are not the original prints of these images. They are also priced accordingly. 1 picture(s) included as part of our description. Please examine carefully before purchase.
