It is printed on both sides, as published. Description: A copper-engraved, original antique strip road map from the mid 18th century. The sheet is printed on both sides and includes significant detail of place names and topographical features, with the route passing through numerous settlement including: Plate 20: London, Maidstone, Ashford, Hythe Plate 21: London, St Albans, Dunstable, Stony Stratford, Towcester Cartographer / Engraver: John Senex (based on earlier road maps by John Ogilby) Provenance: 'The Roads through England delineated, or Ogilby's Survey, Revised, Improved and Reduced to a Size portable for the Pocket by John Senex F,R,S. Being an Actual Survey of all the Principal Roads of England and Wales ...', published by John Bowles, London, 1762 Condition: Very good overall condition. Light age toning. 1cm closed tear to the top margin, not affecting the printed area. Very mild fold crease to the centre of the sheet where the source publication was originally folded, probably in a soft leather binding.
