This a ' New Edition ' with forty-one illustrations by J.R. Weguelin. This book was presented in 1912 as a prize from the Hoosac School (in New York State) to a student who ' had made remarkable progress ' in History and was specially bound in a 'prize binding': 3/4 calf binding over brown cloth with marbled end sheets, school prize label on front paste down, spine with raised bands and six compartments of gilt decoration and gilt titles. Top edge gilt. Clean and tightly bound hardcover book with following noted defects: minor scuffing to the leather; some foxing affecting first and last few leaves; fore and lower page edges are deckled and some pages remain uncut and remains in Very Good Plus condition.
