Description: CAMERA AND FLASH NOT INCLUDED!!! SLV belongs to the category of photo accessories about which I can immediately say the following: 1. in my opinion, it is a very useful and necessary device; 2. I did not even suspect the existence of this thing in the USSR until recently. Shame, right? Handheld flash stand (SHLV) SLV is a folding bracket that allows you to mount the flash higher and further from the camera. This dramatically improves the placement of shadows in photos of people and removes the red-eye effect. All modern flashes (except the simplest ones) have a rotating head and their reflector is located quite high, away from the lens. Due to this, the flash light does not reflect from the fundus directly into the lens. Soviet flashes, for the most part, were squat and did not have a rotating head. Accordingly, they hit him right in the forehead. And in the eyes. Faces were flat, and the eyes glowed. In some part, this problem could be solved with another device - GLV (read the review), but SLV has much more functionality. The most convenient thing is that SHLV not only raises the flash higher, but also moves it to the side. Shadows on faces become diagonal, i.e. more natural. The position of the flash moved to the side is so convenient that I picked up a similar modern device for my digital SLR, not for the first time, by the way. And only then I found out that the USSR had an analogue. There was no limit to the surprise, as they say .... So, SHLV has an L-shape when unfolded. The tripod is stored folded and does not take up much space. The lower bar has a longitudinal groove, which fits a tripod screw for attaching the camera with a wing nut from below. Due to the groove, you can adjust the position of the device to the right and left. Both wing nut located at the bottom have tripod sockets themselves. This entire structure can be mounted on a tripod, with the tripod head being located either under the camera or under the flash. The level has a ribbed rubber surface on top. The camera is attached easily and securely. A flash stand with an anatomical handle is mounted vertically on the side of the lower bar. By loosening the lower screw under the stand, the handle can be rotated around the vertical axis. This allows you to not only orient the flash reflector in any direction, but also rotate the handle so that it is located either to the left of the camera or to the right. There is a hinge with a locking button at the base of the handle. If you press the button, the handle can be tilted from the vertical. Horizontal positions are available in both directions and a diagonal tilt outward from the camera. In this position, the flash will be on the side and above the camera, both in a horizontal and vertical frame. There is a flash bracket at the top of the handle. The bracket is cold. There is no sync signal. Although one could imagine... There is a pedal next to the bracket. By tilting it back, you can tilt the flash forward and backward within a wide range. We select the angle and fix the position with the pedal. You can also thread the trigger cable through the handle and release the shutter without removing your hand from the handle. Overall, the SLV makes a good impression. Very nice. Everything is done correctly, the number of different degrees of freedom for adjustment is simply amazing. If you supplement the flash with a homemade reflector made of paper on an elastic band, it will be just super. True, you need to understand that any deviation of the flash from the "head-on" position makes the table on the flash with recommended apertures meaningless, but I think a more powerful flash and a little experience together allowed you to shoot normally in reflected light. I can't say that the SLV has excellent ergonomics. But it's quite decent. A great thing.
