His rule lasted from 1658 till his death in 1707. Aurangzeb ruled the Indian subcontinent for almost half a century. He was the longest reigning Mughal ruler after Akbar. During his lifetime, he tried his best to expand the Mughal Empire in Southern India, but due to the Marathas, he could not rule over the whole of India and his Mughal Empire started shrinking. The Mughal Empire reached the peak of its expansion under the rule of Aurangzeb. . He was probably the richest and most powerful man of his time. During his lifetime, through the conquests achieved in some states of South India, the Mughal Empire spread over twelve and a half million square miles and ruled over 150 million people, which was 1/4 of the world's population. Aurangzeb imposed a Shari'a-based fatwa-i-alamgiri on the entire empire, and imposed an even higher tax on non-Muslims, known as the Jizya, for a period of time. He was not the first Muslim ruler to apply Shariat on non-Muslim subjects. He had killed Tegh Bahadur, the Guru of the Sikhs, for not accepting Islam and had destroyed many temples and built mosques at the same place. Your coin will be packed safely.
