Description: New CD Makaya McCraven -In These Times- Bonus Track from Japan Description Makaya McRaven, one of the leading beat scientists in contemporary jazz, who has continued to raise his profile with his work on International Anthem and reimaginings of Gil Scott-Heron and Blue Note works, has released his latest album, In These Times! The album is a collection of poly-tempo pieces inspired by McCraven's personal experiences as a member of a multinational working-class musician community, as well as the broader cultural struggle. While he has been releasing a lot since his first album, In The Moment (2015), which brought him attention, this is a recording that he has been working on behind the scenes for seven years. Featuring contributions from fellow musicians Jeff Parker, Junius Paul, Brandy Younger, Joel Ross, and Marquis Hill, the album was recorded in five studios and four live performance spaces, with extensive post-production by McRaven at home. Weaving together orchestral and large ensemble arrangements with his signature organic beat music, the album marks another step forward and a milestone for McRaven as a producer. The Japanese version of this album, which will be released worldwide on September 23rd by International Anthem, Nonesuch, and XL Recordings, will include a commentary and additional bonus tracks.
