Description: RARE Opportunity as these don't usually come up for sale in the "New Old Stock" Condition! Been sealed all these years and just opened up original box packaging to take pictures for this listing. Mid 20th century, ultimate steampunk style flying ball clock! Patented in 1883 and originally manufactured by New Haven Clock Co. under the Jerome and Co. name from 1884-1885 and dubbed "Ignatz". The original flying pendulum or flying ball clock was decorated a bit differently from this late 1960's reproduction by Horolover. Referred to as "The Craziest Clock In The World" It operates by slinging a tiny brass ball on a thread around two steel posts. Quite fascinating to watch. It has a one day spring powered movement. It keeps terrible time. These clocks are known to be abysmal at keeping time, so much so that the original paperwork that was included with these clocks made a mockery of it by stating something to the effect of: If you are able to get this clock to keep time within 10 minutes a day, you are eligible to enter the world’s biggest liar contest. Would make an amazing Gift! These clocks in New or like new Condition have sold around $850 in the past few years. Listing ours slightly under to be reasonably priced.
