Description: DescriptionLovely porcelain half-moon flowerpot made in France by the Lebeuf factory located "Rue Thiroux" (also called “Manufacture de la Reine”) in the late 18th century. This 250-year-old piece is decorated with hand-painted flowers and gilding. It is in decent condition but has repaired cracks and wear on the gilding, as shown in the pictures. It doesn’t have its lid and is currently used as a jardinière. It bears a red mark “A” with a crown underneath. Marketing during the 18th CenturyTo establish its reputation, the factory owner, Lebeuf, published advertising in the press, which Parisians could read in the Gazette of December 4, 1778: "The owners of the Queen's Porcelain Manufacture established on rue Thiroux, inform the Public that the Queen wishes to honor their establishment with her protection and allow it to be adorned with her august name. Each newly manufactured piece will henceforth be marked in a crowned A, first letter of Her Majesty's name [Marie Antoinette]. Rue Thiroux is the first on the right into rue Neuve des Mathurins, via rue de la Chaussée d’Antin. The Manufacture's depot is at Petit Dunkerque, Quai de Conty." SizeThe piece is about 5.25 inches tall, 8.15 inches wide, and 4.25 inches deep. OfferIf interested, you can get the second identical flowerpot for free. Unfortunately, it has been broken and repaired by the previous owner. I can send photos upon request. Note that if interested, you will need to agree to give $25 to pay for shipping in the US.
