Description: This listing is for an ORIGINAL Margaret Keane Painting titled “The Runaway”. An extremely popular work of hers, even prints and poor quality reproductions get expensive- this one is THE real deal! I am unsure if she painted a few variants of the work, or if this is the one and only- if so, don’t miss it! It is signed & Dated 1962 in the lower right corner. It has touches of her extremely popular “Big Eyes” style, with lots of color & detail- a true masterpiece. Keane’s signature style is on full display in this original work of art. It is evident why she has been called one of the most influential artists of the last century. The photos honestly cant really pick up all the subtleties of the shadows colors and do it true justice. It is an excellent piece for your collection, one your friends definitely wont have! It is a great collectors item, for display gifting galleries, or museums. It is in good condition, with no major damage. It has some slight aging, as happens to an original painting. There is some light cracking to the paint where it is thicker in the top left and right areas, This is not a major development and is easily ignored and very restorable. There are no stretches or indentations to the canvas, nor any tears or stains. The brown paper is a little torn on the back, easily replaced, which reveals the stretchers even have little flecks of her paint on them. I have not removed the paper farther, nor the work from its frame, to avoid causing damage. Thank you for your consideration, reasonable offers always considered.
