Description: Original Sears Gallagher Fort LeBoeuf George Washington Signed & Framed Etching This etching has crisp lines and imprint. Please review photos to note the signature “Sears Gallagher” and title “Fort LeBoeuf”as well as a second title “Fort Le Boeuf”underneath the mat. We believe this depicts George Washington warning the French at Fort LeBoeuf. We believe this etching was included in a book titled “The Bicentennial Pageant of George Washington” Sears Gallagher (1869-1955) was an American artist from the Boston Massachusetts area, whose work included etchings for which he received great acclaim. Please note the number of”3” written on the lower right margin. “3” was also found on the back side of the backboard. Possibly 3rd print? The print is in very good preowned condition. We note mild patina, but no water damage, rips or tears—-a really great copy of this Sears Gallagher print. The mat looks like it was original to the print and frame, and is significantly yellowed and shows signs of age and use, including mild patina and staining. Please note a very tiny stain in the upper right corner of the mat protruding underneath the frame about a half inch wide. See last pic. What’s great about this mat is that it has been sized to allow the signature and title to be viewed. This measures about 21 1/2” x 16 1/2” including frame.
