Description: Pair of large, Chinese wooden lanterns, about 1920. In dark wood with reverse painted glass panels depicting figures in various styles of dress. One of the lanterns is signed in Chinese on the underside of the base (see image). The top portion of each lantern is secured by four square "legs" and lifts off to access the candle holder. There are eight different paintings on glass. The last four images show the lanterns with paper inserted so it's easier to see the painted figures. The lanterns are in very good condition. Each lantern is 22 3/4 inches tall. The top portion is 13 3/4 inches tall and each side is 7 inches wide.
