Rare Vintage 80s Dooney & Bourke Satchel Black & British Tan Leather Purse Bag

Description: Vintage Early1980s (Pre-Tag and Early Logo on Fob and Zipper) Dooney & Bourke All Weather Leather (AWL) Large Satchel Black & British Tan Pebbled Leather Purse Bag Tote or Briefcase Style? Condition is "Pre-owned". This bag has marks and scuffs that are consistent with age. There is some staining on one of the inner pockets. See Pictures for Condition. This purse does not have a shoulder strap. Measures approximately 12.5” across by 10” high by 4” wide/deep at largest point. I am not an expert on Dooney and Bourke Bags; However, prior to creating this listing, I performed some research to ensure that this is an authentic Dooney and Bourke. I realize that most of the bags have the red, white and blue label in them; however, I have come to learn that the very early 1980s All Weather Leather Bags did not have a tag (they were “pre-tag”) and the fob and one of the zippers uses the early logo of the stylized backward D and a B. This bag does not have a tag and does have the early logo on the fob and one of the zippers. The leather, the stitching, and the bag in general seem to be high quality. I purchased this bag at an estate sale in an affluent neighborhood. Given all of the above information, I do believe this to be an Authentic early 1980s Dooney and Bourke Purse. Signs of wear are consistent with being a vintage piece from that era. I do not smell any unusual smells coming from this item (just the leather smell) and my home is a smoke and pet free home. Again, I am not an expert; however, with the search that I have just performed, along with the knowledge that this was pre-tag and using the earlier logo, and I didn’t see any other bags exactly like this being sold or recently sold, I am assuming that it could be considered rare. There are bags that look similar, of course, but the majority of bags that look like this do not have the exact format or the unique earlier logo and no tag. This is why I put Rare? In the title. My hope is that someone who has a love for Dooney and Bourke and a lot of knowledge of the history of the products will find this item and realize it’s uniqueness. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
