REVOLUTIONARY WAR CAPTAIN JOSEPH PORTER PROVISION RETURN CAMP ALBANY 1777

Description: SAVING OUR HISTORY, REVOLUTIONARY WAR CAPTAIN JOSEPH PORTER PROVISION RETURN CAMP ALBANY 1777 John Porter, a merchant from Massachusetts, left home to join the Continental Army when the Revolutionary War broke out at Lexington and Concord. Initially hired as the Paymaster for Jonathan Ward’s Regiment, he later received a promotion to Captain. By the summer of 1777, Porter became a Major in the 6th Massachusetts Regiment. Interestingly, after seven years of war, he was briefly allowed leave and sailed to Europe with the Marquis de Lafayette. Upon his return, however, Porter faced a court martial due to unexpected travel during his leave. Despite petitioning Congress for a pension based on his seven years of service, he did not receive it, as General Washington declined to assist him1.Learn more1founderoftheday.com2founders.archives.gov3findagrave.com1of30Tell me more about John Porter's court martial. What other roles did he have during the war?Did he participate in any major battles?ChatsPluginsCopilot GPTsCopilotDesignerVacation plannerCooking assistantFitness trainerRecentsJohn Porter's Role in the Revolutionary WarJohn Porter's Revolutionary War Service5:46 PMSelected Text: ```text Saving Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption Edit Caption EJun 11, 2024prices soldMay 28, 2024First South Carolina Volunteer Infantry RegimentMay 1, 2024Josh S.
