Description: As I continue to clear out my equipment locker, I have this Safariland / Protech X-CAL LP armor plate up for sale. The X-CAL LP hard armor plate is a special threat plate used "In-Conjunction-With" (ICW) several soft body armor packages. Thin and lightweight, the X-CAL LP is designed to stop a variety of special handgun and rifle threat rounds including various 5.56 and 7.62 rounds. Be sure to see the close up photo for the factory tested rifle round grains. This hard armor 10" x 12" triple curvature Shooter's Cut is constructed of ceramic composite material and is Type III rated. It features spall coating to help reduce spalling, fragmentation and ricochet from ballistic impacts. It weighs a hefty 5.8 pounds, and provides a contoured fit, ideal for comfort and mobility. It is in great condition, and has never been dropped or used. As noted in the photos above, there is one area along the edge that appears to be a rub or perhaps a light melt in the spall coating. Date of manufacture is 03/2017. To be clear, this particular plate is designed to be used "in conjunction with" an approved flexible armor package and is not to be used simply as stand-alone armor.
