Description: Up for consideration is a sample of extremely rare shijiangshanite from the Shijiangshan Mine, Inner Mongolia, China. This sample comes from a very small lot of about 30 samples all trimmed from the same rock that was located in a miner’s collection. These are the first samples of this rare species found outside the original type sample and the first examples to market! The mineral occurs as rich clusters of small, trigonal, pink crystals richly scattered on hydroboracite/calcite/garnet matrix and are in some cases associated with fibrous needles of what may be johnbaumite. The sample measures 2.8x2.1x1.8cm. Shijiangshanite fluroesces in SW and LW UV.
