Description: STUNNING, RARE 18th. CENTURY Geo. III BILSTON / BATTERSEA TABLE SNUFF BOX - COACHING This is a wonderful, and I would think quite rare, late 18th. to early 19th. Century enamel on copper Bilston / Battersea table snuff box. In a fan shape with indented corners and hinged lid it depicts a polychrome image of a humorous coaching scene to its lid, while the body colour is a light blue, and the inner white enamel. The lid is attached to the body with a hinged brass / bronze (?) Frame which has a thumb piece to the front. It measures 2 1/8" (5.25) L x 1 5/8" (4cm) W x 1 1/8" (2.75cm) H approx; and is in good condition with no defect to report apart from a couple of tiny frits to the underside of the base (in fact most of what you can see to the base is lighting flare or wear to the enamel high spots, there are only two very small frits) - for all see photographs and details. This really is a stunning very rare period table snuff box in good condition for its age, that should have great appeal to all Bilston collectors.
