It measures about 8 1/2" x 11" and it is in very good condition, nice tight and clean. A very rare report issued in May 1980 after The Ashley Planes were added to the National Register of Historic Places in January 1980.A very scarce booklet with only two copies found in the Luzerne County Library system and no other copies found anywhere else in the world. Only one side of the pages are printed as if they were made on a copy machine. The first 12 pages discuss the back ground of inclined plane railroads in Pennsylvania and ended with a discussion of the Development and Description of The Ashley Planes in Luzerne County Pennsylvania. The rest of the book about 5 printed pages contain bibliographical data. There are also 2 large foldout plates in the back. The first is a 16"x26" reproduction of a map from 1867 of the mines, canals and railroads of the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company, and the second is a fold out copy of 2 pages of the Engineering News from 1909 on handling freight traffic on The Ashley Planes. A great book for anyone who is interested in the history of inclined planes railroads or The Ashley Planes in Luzerne County Pennsylvania.
