Description: Offered for sale is a MINT Condition Goebel Hummel The Final Sculpt #2180 TMK8. This is a LIMITED EDITION Hummel number #5569 of 8000 worldwide, and it was signed by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek in 2002. Included is a 'Like New' Condition 210 page hard cover book, entitled 'Hummels and Me: Life Stories' published in 1996. It is Master Sculptor Skrobek's autobiography, and it is also signed. The book has no defects, no signs of wear or tear, and no damage. The dust jacket has a few scratches, but you can't see them through the library book cover that I've included FREE of Charge. This is an amazing offering, don't let it slip away! The figurine also features a facsimile of the book at the base of the sculpture. In the pages of the book we learn of the extraordinary life of Gerhard Skrobek, of his old-world upbringing, the shattering impact of World War II, his narrow escapes and his uprooting. We follow his new life with his arrival at W. Goebel and his ultimate destiny in helping shape the figurines that are so beloved by so many people around the world, especially the Americans. This bitter-sweet Hummel, which was designed in honor of master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek, depicts a young Skrobek creating his last masterpiece sculpt and bidding all Hummel fans farewell as he was retiring in 2002. The medallion that comes with this Hummel depicts Skrobek's profile in black, as he appeared in his later years, most likely 2002. Goebel declared bankruptcy and closed it's doors in 2008. Today, Hummel figurines continue to be made under license by other manufacturers, but they are not based on Sister Maria I. Hummel's drawings. Goebel's bankruptcy marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. These two important pieces of Hummel history make a great addition to any Hummel collection. Make them yours TODAY! Please see pictures as they are an integral part of the description. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have before purchasing or bidding.
