I have not tried to photograph the hallmarks – they are often hard to find and difficult to photograph. If I have said they are there, believe me, they are there. VERY LONG ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER BOOT HOOK H/M 1889 A & L 29.5 cms #15 Apparently these extremely long boot hooks were needed by women who did not have a lady’s maid to help with their dressing; in the very tight corsets they wore, it was impossible for women to bend over any further. A very nice long hook, 29.5 cms, hallmarked for Birmingham 1889, maker Adie & Lovekin, who were well-known makers of silver fancy goods in the Victorian era. Very intricate repousse design to the handle, in good antique condition. I have a number of boot hooks for sale, happy to combine. All could travel for the same postage cost.
