VILLAGE CALLERS - Hector/I’m Leaving (RARE 1968 Rampart; East LA Latinx) VG(-)

Description: This is a very good copy of a rare 1968 single by East LA group the Village Callers. From the same milieu that produced Thee Midniters, Cannibal and the Headhunters (the fellas who added the "Na nananana" bit to Chris Kenner's "Land of 1,000 Dances"), and the Premiers (who had a 1964 hit with a live version of "Farmer John" that was included on the seminal 1972 Nuggets comp), the Village Callers released a live LP in 1968. This single was the first of three to be drawn from the LP (a version of Willie Bobo's "Evil Ways," more famously covered by Santana, followed in 1969). The disc has some stains, scrapes, scuffs, and loss of glossiness, and it plays well with steady light surface noise and occasional light crackling -- VG(-). (I've graded it down a bit based on the visuals.) There is an address sticker on the a-side label, and some writing in pen on both labels (see photos). I’m helping a friend sell his personal collection. I have play graded (spot checked) discs. The jackets will be shipped in plastic sleeves with the discs removed from them.
