Description: Antique Villeroy and Boch -Mettlach punch bowl, tureen or even flowerpot! #3037/487 Manufactured by the most famous ceramics company in the distinctive Jugendstil/Art Nouveau style. The punch bowls were a large part of |the business for Vileroy and Boch/Metlach -it seems that the bowls were not necessarily "punch" but could be also used as soup bowls. |Designed in elegant Art Nouveau/ Jugendstil style by Fritz Quidenus- one of the most prominent Jugendstil/Art Nouveau artists who worked almost exclusively for Mettlach. Signed with his initials (see pics). Marked with impressed Mettlach mark, 3037--|mold number and 486--decoration number. The other numbers are 33 for the quality control and 10 for the date number of the year 1910. The bowl is featured in G.Kirsner's "The Metlach Book" on page 332 Excellent! Mint Condition!
