Description: I remember us having these Timberlites in our store back when I was in high school. I'm going to guess around 1992-93. Extremely lightweight and innovate lockback mechanism. I didn't recall the particulars of the company so I did some googling and found a helpful writeup: ———Timberline Knives was founded in 1989 by John and Nancy Anthon. The company’s official name is The Great American Tool Company, or GATCO, based in Buffalo, New York. Unlike most Timberline Knives, these circa 1990s Timberlites were made in the USA by Camillus (the old Camillus, not zombie Camillus). The Timberline Tiberlite pocket knife was named the Blade Show "Knife of The Year" in 1991. It won the award due to the innovative Neeley Lock mechanism which is closed by simply pulling blade out, away from handle.——— I didn't realize these were made by the legendary Camillus knife works of Camillus NY, but it makes sense.. a great blade. As mentioned above the lockback mechanism was released by pulling out on the blade (please read the instructions in the box). This is a NOS olive and black example that was never sold out of our store. It's still in the box but I have to note that the foam insert for the box has deteriorated over the last 30 years.. the foam won't hold up.. heck the box is just some flimsy cardboard too so I don't think they were considering the collectibility of their packaging. Has original papers. This is a NOS item that we had in our sporting good store's inventory that went unsold years ago.
