Vintage PORTA FILE Ballonoff Metal Storage Case Wood Grain Finish

Description: This item is a vintage PortaFile metal storage case by Ballonoff. It was my grandmother's and she kept coins in it. The exterior finish gives it a wood grain appearance. The original sticker is still on the exterior as well as the price sticker from KMart on the interior. The case is well-used but still very functional. It has a metal handle with PortaFile etched on it on the lid for carrying and along with a metal lock for closure. The clasp still works but I do not have the key. The box measures approx. 9"x 9 5/8"x4 1/2" (per the sticker) and is Item # 1499. It is advertised as "Safe Storage for Cancelled Checks" with lithographed metal, metal lock & stackable. It also lists monthly index dividers as well as a key inside but I do not have either. There is a movable metal clamp inside the interior top. Also listed is the manufacturer - Ballonoff Home Products Pentron Industries, Inc. Cleveland OH 44122 Made in USA. The exterior has scuffs, scratches and will need a good cleaning. The lid doesn't quite close flush but it remains shut when lifted. I do not know a date of manufacture but I remember seeing it at my grandmother's back in the 80's if not late 70's.
