Description: 1930s Max Eckardt vintage Shiny Brite parachute Christmas gold mercury glass ornament 3.5" This ornament, ca late 1930s is actually one of Max Eckardt's (started Shiny Brite) early Christmas ornaments. He was the main buyer of European ornaments for F.W. Woolworths in the early 20th century. He realized WWII was coming and there would be a problem importing European ornaments. He hired glass blowers to create his own line (such as this one). However, Max knew he would not be able to keep up with the demand of the American market and in late 1930s asked Corning Glass to use their ribbon machines to blow glass ornaments and thus started Shiny Brite ca. 1940. This ornament is rare.
