Description: Nice impressionist Texas bluebonnets oil painting, on board. This painting is by a very good Texas artist, Pedro Lazcano. Would date this painting to the 1950's. Works by Lazcano have become more sought after in the last 5 years. His style is similar to Porfirio Salinas and with good reason. See the biography below. This painting is 12" x 18" (image) and is one of the better paintings by Lazcano. The bluebonnets are still quite vivid. Housed in a period gilt wood frame, and is signed at lower right. Great addition to your Bluebonnet painting collection. As an adult, he was an embosser and ran the printing press for Pabst Engraving Company who also had a gallery on the second floor selling works by Porfirio Salinas, Dawson-Watson, Robert Wood and others. Pedro was a friend/associate of Porfirio Salinas and they would go on sketching trips together as mentioned by Salinas' daughter. He would sell his paintings of downtown San Antonio to business people to hang in their offices and barter to doctors. Beginning in the late 50's or early 60's he painted full time for the remainder of his life.Pedro Lazcano passed away on Feb. 6, 1970.
